My Music Collection – Comprehensive Music Catalog Software
From Nuclear Software Coffee, the developer that brought you VideoGet, the easy to use tool to download and convert movies from YouTube and other video sharing sites, comes a powerful music catalog software, the appropriately named My Music Collection. The application, which was first released to the web in April 2010, helps the passionate music lover keep track of an ever expanding music collection.
You will not wait long to get My Music Collection onto your computer (the 6.2MB download will complete in a blink) and you will not spend much time getting it up and running (a setup wizard will guide you through the process). It must be mentioned here that My Music Collection provides support for multiple languages: English, French, Italian, German, Turkish and Ukrainian.
My Music Collection’s interface is reminiscent of Microsoft’s ribbon UI, which means that if you’ve used Microsoft Office before, you shouldn't have any problems getting used to My Music Collection. From the interface you can switch between thumbs, cards, shelves, album and tracks view – it’s always nice to have various means of customizing the way an application looks.
The main functionality My Music Collection has to offer is to help you manage an ever increasing collection of music. You can enter a band’s album by entering the band’s name, a barcode, or by inserting a CD. Select the “Add by entering artist name” option and after typing in the band’s name, My Music Collection will gather information about that band from the web. You can select an album from the list of results and add it to your collection.
There is a lot of information associated with each entry in My Music Collection: the band’s name, release date, genre, the date you purchased the album, the tracks on the album, comments and pictures associated with that album. You can add any picture you want, which is great if you go to a concert, for example; you can add the pictures you took at the concert to My Music Collection database.
Speaking about the database, the trial version of My Music Collection is limited to 50 database entries. You need to register My Music Collection to get rid of this limitation. By registering, you will also dispose of the nagging screen that shows up every time you launch and close My Music Collection.
Anyone who has an extensive music collection is well advised to use My Music Collection to manage it. The application is easy to use, looks great and comes with numerous powerful features to help you manage your music collection.
Pros
Multilingual language support is provided. Works with just about any Windows version. The interface is easy to use and reminiscent of Microsoft’s ribbon UI. You can easily add albums to the database and add a lot of information for each album. You can keep track of the albums you loaned to others. My Music Collection can pull information from the web to help you out. You can print or export a list of albums.
Cons
The trial version is limited to 50 database entries.
